Barbara Haddox Obituary

Barbara Jean Haddox, 93, of McComb, peacefully passed away in her home at 8:05 AM Monday, November 5, 2018. She was born November 4, 1925, to the late Russell and Blanche (Finfrock) Williams. She married James R. Haddox on August 31, 1947, who survives in McComb.

Barb is also survived by children: Diane (John) Hohn, Forest; Linda Parente, Findlay; Patricia (Greg) Adams, Chaska, Minnesota; Nancy (Lee) Lilly, Avon, Indiana and James W. (Carol) Haddox, McComb; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters Kate Rader and Martha LaSalle.

Barb graduated from Bellevue High School in 1943 and attended Bowling Green State University before working at the Bellevue Gazette. She often shared the story of being called in to work in the early hours of June 6, 1944, to help with the publication of the special D-Day edition. She also worked at the family owned McComb Lumber Company. Barb was a member of the McComb United Methodist Church where she participated in the UMW and Bible studies. She was a member of the Query Club, Pinochle Club and a Mothers Club. She enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling; however, her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren, who all remember her for her special hugs and laughter.

Visitation will be held at the on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM in the HARTLEY-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 370 Park Dr S., McComb, Ohio, Additional visitation will be on Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 12-2 PM, followed by her funeral service at 2:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Howard Mayne, officiating. Interment will be in the McComb Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice or the McComb United Methodist Church.

The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Bridge Hospice and Caretakers staffs for their loving and supportive care.
