Emma Lou Weis, 92, of Deefield Beach Florida passed away October 4, 2019. Emma was born on September 8, 1927 to the late Elizabeth and Ernest Rubloff in Bellaire, Ohio. Emma married David Weis on February 4, 1950 in Bowling Green, Ohio and she was married over 60 years before David preceded her in death on June 11, 2015.
Emma was the mother of 6 children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She was an amazing, talented, and loving woman. She had a deep personal relationship with Jesus which evolved and strengthened over the years. This relationship helped her through many difficult hardships in her life. She graduated from Bellaire High School and took classes at both Ohio State and Bowling Green State Universities. She graduated from Ursuline College at the age of 50. Emma worked many jobs throughout her life. She worked as a lab technician at a hospital, taught at the Marycrest School for Girls, ran a Christian bookstore and finally being the Director or the Charismatic Renewal in South Florida until she was 80 years old. Emma was very involved with her children as they were growing up. She helped out at their schools, was a Girl Scout leader, taught CCD, and helped with many of the activities her children were involved in. Emma was very talented seamstress who could make outfits that rivaled the best designers. She also created ceramic Nativity scenes for her children and porcelain dolls for her granddaughters. Emma always had time to help counsel her family and their friends if anyone was in need or was having a difficult time in their life. She was loved be all and will be greatly missed.
Emma is survived by her daughters Carolyn Zaremba, and Jeannine Edgerton; sons Warren Michael Weis, and Gregory Weis, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, husband David; and sons: David in 2003, and John Paul in 1974.
Visitation for Emma will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second Street, Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. Additional visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 14010 S. River Road, Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. Interment will immediately follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
