Rachel Ann (Moorehead) Terry, 99, of McComb passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore.
Rachel was born on December 27, 1920 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Harry B. and Inez (Fisher) Moorehead. She is survived by her two sons: Franklin W. Terry Jr. of Portage, Indiana and Phillip R. Terry of McComb, Ohio, six grandchildren Philip J. Terry of Ohio, Michael B. Terry of Arkansas, Sandra D. Garr of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, Katrin, Teddy and Melanie Terry of Portage, Indiana and a number of step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and her sister Marcella Demars of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her son David A. Terry; brothers Morris and Ted Moorehead, sister Lois Hitchner, and a granddaughter Colleen.
Rachel was a 1938 graduate of McComb High School and from Dickinson Secretarial School in Toledo. Rachel worked in downtown Toledo until accepting a position at the Rossford Army Depot and then transferred to the Sierra Army Depot in Herlon, California in 1944. She later returned to Rossford until they closed and was transferred to the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA in June 1963. She retired in 1978. She was a member of the Guilford Hills Baptist Church in Chambersburg for over 25 years. She was a national member of AARP and a national and local #1063 member of the NARFE in Chambersburg, PA. She was a longtime volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile and lifelong member of NRA.
Visitation for Rachel will be on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 9:00 AM until the time of her funeral service at 10:00 AM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Dr S., McComb, 45858. Interment will follow in the McComb Union Cemetery.
