Samuel Dow Obituary

Samuel James Dow of Clearwater, FL went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2019 at the age of 95.  “Sam” was born in Toledo Ohio on February 28, 1924.

He served in the US Navy during WWII from December 1942 to December 1948 aboard the USS Quincy, USS Texas and USS Lexington.  He received metals for WWII American Area Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, European African Campaign and Good Conduct. After his honorable discharge from military service, he had a career as an automobile salesman.

He was married to Estelle Mae Tavernier on September 19, 1955. They were members of Memorial Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio. They did not have any children. Sam never remarried after Estelle passed away on May 20, 1998. He moved to Clearwater Florida in October 2000 and resided at Ranch Mobile Park until his passing.

His parents, Frank and Rosalee also predeceased him.

He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and dear friends.

A graveside service, including military honors will be held at 10am on Friday, August 30, Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans.
