Tom was born on November 23, 1947 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Loren and Ida (Bechstein) Roe. He married the love of his life, Norma Gerschutz, on November 22, 1969 in Deshler, Ohio.

Tom worked as an Abrams Tank welder for General Dynamics in Lima, retiring after 30 years of service. However, his true passion was maintaining the family farm. Tom also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping at Shipshewana, Traverse City, or in his own backyard. Tom was a graduate of Westwood High School and served in the United States Army National Guard. Tom loved watching Nascar and cheering on his favorite drivers Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Jr. If Tom was not in the fields working you could find him in his shop tinkering with one of his many projects. Tom enjoyed being around people and often went to great lengths to help others in a time of need. The most important part of Tom’s life was his family. His strong work ethic and dedication to family and friends are what will live on in the memories of people that knew him.
