Cletys Dyke

Cletys Dyke, 91, of Weston, Ohio passed away March 12, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He wanted to be with Eleanor, as he missed her every day and was holding her picture when he passed away. Cletys was born on February 23, 1929 to the late Theron and Hazel (Junkins) Dyke on their farm in Weston, Ohio.

He married Eleanor Scaggs on June 21, 1946 in Napoleon, Ohio and they were married 72 years before she preceded him in death on November, 17, 2018.

Cletys was a farmer, a truck driver, and he worked for Campbell Soup, H.J. Heinz as well as hauling radishes for Tem Cole in McClure to Florida in the winter and to Michigan in the summer. He worked hard to always provide for his family. He loved farming and after he retired, he rode tractor/combine with the one who farmed his land and he missed farming when he had to stop. Cletys was always figuring on something whether it was a piece of paper, napkin, table, wood, etc. He loved to go camping along the Maumee River, even building his own truck camper. Cletys enjoyed boating, and waterskiing, and taught all of his children how to water ski and surf board even though he could not swim. Cletys loved traveling to Florida in their motor home and being on the beach and enjoying the heat in Florida. Cletys loved Eleanor and his family and he will be greatly missed by everyone.

Cletys is survived by her daughter: Colleen (Bob) Clark of Grand Rapids, Ohio; sons: Raymond (Tammy) Dyke of High Point, North Carolina; Frank (Mona) Dyke of Swanton, Ohio; William Dyke of McClure, Ohio; nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Cletys was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor, son Ronald Eugene; sisters: Candace Williams and Eileen Bechstein.

Visitation for Cletys will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 PM in the Weston Church of Christ, 13355 Center Street, Weston, Ohio. Interment will immediately follow in Weston Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Cletys’s honor may be gifted to the Weston Church of Christ.
