Dennis Weaver Obituary

Dennis “Denny” Lee Weaver, 64, of Grand Rapids passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.

Denny was born in Bowling Green, Ohio on March 27, 1958 to R. Philip and Jacquelene (Knauss) Weaver. He married Sandra “Sandy” Sue Thomas on November 26, 2002 and she survives in Grand Rapids. 

Denny is also survived by his two children: Jeremy (Julie Ludwig) Weaver of Grand Rapids, Lyndsey (Kurt) Stanley of Weston; mother Jacquelene Christy of Neapolis, grandchildren: Rian and Jaxon Stanley, Libby and Darin Weaver; brother: Alan (Terrie) Weaver and nephew Joe Weaver and brother Kirk (Theresa) Weaver; nieces and nephews: Ashley Joy and Alissa Gillen, Adam Weaver and Airick Weaver; great-nephews: Eli Weaver, Blake Joy and Dean Weaver; his bonus grandchildren: Drake and Chloe Ludwig; sister in-law Cheryl (Steve) Dress and nephew Derek Dress and his brother in-law Terry (Barbara) Thomas and their children: Emily (Eric) Price and Sam and Adam Thomas. He was preceded in death by his father R. Philip Weaver.

Denny was a 1976 graduate of Otsego High School where he played football and basketball.  He also played on the Grand Rapids baseball league when he was younger.  Denny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force with the 180th Fighter Wing with the Ohio National Guard being honorable discharge on December 28, 1981. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion #232 in Grand Rapids. He was a NASCAR, Cubs and Rams fan.  Denny enjoyed working on cars, he built his first car a Bradley GT.  He was an avid deer, wood chuck and wild game hunter. He enjoyed playing a good game of pool with his friends. He also enjoyed taking long rides in the country with his wife Sandy looking for deer and other wildlife.  Denny would often stop to visit friends.  They may put him to work, but he was always happy to help.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 24084 W. Second St., Grand Rapids, Ohio 43522. Family asks those attending to wear their favorite Christmas socks, something he would have enjoyed.

Memorial contributions may be gifted in Denny’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
