Irene Rimelspach Obituary

Irene E. (Halm) Rimelspach, 93 of Fremont, Ohio passed away Friday, May 19, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born on July 5, 1929 to the late Stan and Ursula (Wasserman) Halm in Fremont, Ohio. She married the love of her life Bill on November 24, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont. They were married 72 years before he preceded her in death on July 16, 2022.

Irene is survived by her children:  Joseph (Judy) Rimelspach of Columbus, Susan Rimelspach of Cincinnati, Mark (Sue) Rimelspach of Findlay, Mary (Michael) Smith of Strongsville, Ann (Allan) Wise of Fremont and John Rimelspach of Port Clinton; grandchildren: Paul Rimelspach, Sara (John) Bartley, Anna (Xaume) Bueno, Dan (Mary) Rimelspach, Derek Rimelspach, Meghan (Mike) Rimelspach, Drew (Hannah) Rimelspach, Tracey Smith, Brian Smith, Carolynn (Nicholas) Oblizajek, Katie Wise, Molly (Dale) Freier, and Christine (Zak) Bowman; great-grandchildren: Penny, Holden, Alana, Whitney, Addison, Lydia, Liam, Malachi, Grace, Marnie, Coraline, Maple, Sophie and Alden; Irene was preceded in death by her parents: husband Bill, siblings: Billy, Thomas, Florence, and Glenn.

Irene was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School. She worked as a school secretary at St. Ann's School for 14 years. Irene volunteered for numerous community organizations and events.

Irene will be remembered by her family and friends as an extremely open hearted, passionately competitive and accepting person. Irene welcomed all those in her life with genuine kindness and unconditional love.

She enjoyed quilting beautiful blankets, playing cards and being by the water which included swimming any chance she got. If you were lucky enough to know Irene, you may have had a chance to enjoy one of her delicious and "healthy" pies!
Irene loved spending time with her family sharing many traditions with them such as making cherries jubilee every Christmas and warning her many grandchildren they "daresn't touch the tree" during the annual pickle hunt.

She was a strong and beautiful soul, and meant so much to her loved ones. Irene made everyone feel like family and taught those around her that devotion to family and faith were the keys to happiness (and winning at euchre certainly helped too).
Irene's family is brought comfort knowing she is in heaven reunited with her loving husband Bill, talking, laughing and dancing to Glen Miller.
