Jonathan Binkley Obituary

Jonathan Andrew Binkley, 81, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on November 23rd, 2022. He was born December 18th, 1940, in Bureau County, Illinois to Carl and Catherine (Willson) Binkley. Jonathan and his twin brother David were born in a car on the way to the hospital in Princeton, Il. Their birth made national news since they were born in different townships.

He attended schools in Mount Carroll, and Niantic, Il and then Rockford (now Parkway) High School in Ohio, graduating with the class of 1959. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Findlay College in 1963, a master's degree from the University of Toledo in 1966, and Specialists in Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1970.

He taught at Donnell Junior High Findlay Public Schools, 1963-1964; Romulus (Michigan) Junior High School, 1965-1966; Romulus High School, 1966-1967; Instructor in government, Whitmer High School, Washington Local Schools, Toledo, 1967-1996. He retired in 1997.

On June 5th, 1964, he married his college sweetheart, the late Barbara Ann Meyers. Children born to their union are son Tregg Jonathan and wife Angela and son Trent Stephen and wife Stephanie, who survive. Other survivors include grandchildren Megan, Alyssa, Emerson, and Alistair, siblings David, Stephen, Rose Mary, Ruth, Rebekah, and Timothy, brother-in-law Jim Meyers and his wife Cathy, and sister-in-law Donna Binkley.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife, and brother Victor Binkley.

Jonathan was known for his quick wit, astute political observations, and his faithful service to the Lord via the Churches of God. He will be greatly missed by his large circle of friends and family.

A memorial gathering for Jonathan will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 9:00 am until the time of his celebration of life service at 11:00 am at the Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, 1460 W. Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
