Lela Joan Hunt Obituary

While the essence of her smile is gone, and a rare excellent person has departed this life, Joan’s smile will always be with us.   What a joy it has been to share this life with her.

Joan (Osenbaugh) Hunt was born in Deshler, Ohio on October 29th, 1932, to Arthur H and Loa B. (Clymer) Osenbaugh.  She attended Deshler Local School system and Stautzenberger Community College.  She worked for Sylvania Electric Company where she met and married Patrick D. Hunt on April 7th, 1957.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Patrick, along with two children, Kimberly A Hunt-Brown (Joe), Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and David A Hunt (Heather), Findlay, Ohio. A nephew Tom Adams (Rebecca) of Port Townsend, Washington, and niece Dedi Spoores (Craig) of Grand Rapids, Ohio also survive.   Joan was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Woodrow Winn of Flagstaff, Arizona, and sister Betty Adams (Ralph) of Bowling Green, Ohio.

Joan gave an extensive volunteer service to Hancock County during which she gave much and asked for little.  She volunteered with Van Buren Local Schools, where she led the Band Boosters food tent at the Hancock County Fair for many years. She was a member of the Mariners club of The First Presbyterian Church and volunteered with Read for Life, The Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, 4-H, YMCA, Findlay Hancock Country Public Library, and the First Presbyterian Church bell choir.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years.

She and Patrick were volunteers at the Northwestern Ohio Railroad Preservation.  They loved traveling the world as well as spending time building and restoring windmills for Patrick’s Second Wind windmill business.   They were also avid hockey fans, suffering through many games watching Heather and David trying to play in Findlay Men’s Hockey League, as well as watching the Columbus Blue Jackets.   They also enjoyed the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings.

The family would like to thank The Heritage Nursing Home and Bridge Home Hospice for their gentle care of the whole family for these last 18 months.  In honor of Joan’s wonderful life, the family requests memorials be made to Bridge Home Hospice.

The family will receive visitation from 4pm-6pm on April 1st at Hanneman Funeral Home in Findlay with interment at Bright Cemetery, Marion Township Tuesday April 2, at 11:00 am, conducted by Pastor Jessica Commeret.

She has passed away and awaits us beyond this life.
