Marlene Buchhop, 90 of Liberty Center, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family. Marlene was born on December 29, 1933, in Freedom Township, to George C. and Elta M. (Riefers) Wiemken. On December 10, 1955, she married Marvin F. Buchhop, who preceded her in death on February 9, 2003. She was a 1951 graduate of Ridgeville Local High School and a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Liberty Center.
Marlene is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Craig) Goldsmith of Oakboro, North Carolina, and Tracey (James) Hoff of Maineville, Ohio; one son, Todd (Carrie) Buchhop of Ostrander, Ohio; one brother, Larry (Sharon) Wiemken of Danbury, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Christopher Buchhop, Jena Campbell, Sarah Buchhop, Kristen Goldsmith, Kara Lankford, Carl Hoff, Kegan Buchhop, and Jacob Buchhop; and four great-grandchildren, Becky Wall, Zachary Wall, Karsyn Lankford, and Lennon Lankford. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Steven F. Buchhop, a daughter-in-law Dawn E. (Short) Buchhop, two brothers, Ronald G. (Carol) Wiemken and George Douglas Wiemken, and two sisters, Doretta L. (Leonard) Longstreet, and Linda L. (Gerald) Perry.
Visitation will be held at Hanneman Funeral Home in Liberty Center from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 22, 2024. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 23, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, with Rev. Charles Kramer officiating. Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery, Liberty Center.
