Nina Bell Shank, 101, of Findlay, Ohio and formerly of McComb, Ohio passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Nina was born on January 9, 1923 in Morenci, Michigan to the late John Henry and Lillie Maye (Marzolf) Brink. Nina married her first husband and they had their daughter Sheila Beals. They later divorced. She married Leslie Shank and had her daughters Cheryl Best, Jody (Kendall) Best, Jeannie (Jeff Emmitt) Kirby, and he preceded her in October 6, 1992.
Nina is survived by her daughters: Shelia Beals, Cheryl Best, Jody (Kendall) Best, Jeannie (Jeff Emmitt) Kirby; stepdaughter Joleen Peters; grandchildren: Janet (Paul) Montana, Steve (Wendy) Beals, ShaRee (Elton) Best-Austin, Blaine (Adrianna) Best, Garrett (Mykayla Ortega) Kirby, Landon Kirby; great grandchildren: Jeremy, Ken, Amanda, Joseph, Jacob, Mitchell, Alex, Tyson, Jasmine, Skylynn, Aurora, Addy Mae, Alexander, Akira, Caleb, Kiara; a host of loving great great grandchildren; and brother-in-law Paul Woodside. Nina was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leslie, stepson Jimmy Shank, stepdaughter Joy Brown, son-in-law Donny Beals and siblings John Leo Brink, Marion Brink, Eva Dodge, Leslie Brink, Irene Forrest, Geraldine Woodside, Duane Brink, Donald Brink, and Alberta Gould.
Nina was a homemaker who loved to crochet, bake, do word finds, and dance. She was dearly loved by everyone at the Heritage in Findlay where she lived the last four years. Nina loved to dress up her skeleton whom she named “Bones” for every holiday and occasion. Bones would accompany her all around town and people knew her because of Bones. Her favorite place to take Bones was the Sycamore Lake Winery when her favorite band played. Nina was always the life of the party with Bones. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and family was the most important part of Nina’s life and she will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service for Nina will be held at a later date.
