Robert "Bob" Smith (1938-2023)
 
Robert "Bob" Smith was born in Akron, Ohio, to parents Robert and Kathryn Smith. Raised in a humble Cleveland suburb without modern amenities, Bob was blessed with a father who instilled in him a robust work ethic from a young age.
 
During high school, Bob's father mentored him in the intricacies of car mechanics, and they worked together at a gas station, honing his skills. Bob eventually established his own company, specializing in designing and constructing industrial systems. His work led him on journeys across the United States and around the world, from France and Spain to Canada, Puerto Rico, England, and Mexico.
 
Before becoming an entrepreneur, he pursued higher education at Fenn College (now Cleveland State University), navigating a challenging "co-op" program for a decade to earn his degree.
 
While working for Republic Steel, Bob met his beloved wife, Carolyn, with whom he shared 60 years of unwavering devotion. Their adventures included 20 years of boating and sailing, exploring the Great Lakes, San Francisco Bay, and Tennessee. Together, they raised their two cherished children, Robert and David.
 
Throughout his life, Bob encountered several near misses, from a childhood car accident to surviving the perils of the woods and other life-threatening incidents. His guardian angel worked tirelessly by his side.
 
Bob's legacy lives on in the hearts of his three grandchildren, Sammy, Johnny, and Robby. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing his remarkable journey continues to inspire us all.

Visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:00am until the time of of his funeral service at 12:00 pm at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, 1460 W. Wooster Street, Bowling Green, Ohio. Burial will immediately follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bowling Green.
