Sandra Louise (McCarthy) Grubs

Sande Grubs, 86 years old, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, May 31.

Sande was born on January 5th, 1937, to Tim and Alice McCarthy.  She graduated from Fremont Ross in 1955, and went on to The Ohio State University where she got her degree as a Dental Hygienist. Her career was spent in Woodville, working as a hygienist for Dr. Vernon Slotterbeck, and after his retirement, for Dr. Kenneth Myers. 
Sande met the love of her life, Ralph (Grubby) through her older brother, Tom (also deceased.) They were married in 1957 and had three children, Lisa, Barry and Lezlie.

Sande was strong,funny, determined and thoughtful. She loved dogs, cats, the squirrels she fed, the geese that flew overhead, and the wild turkeys that visited her yard often. She threw epic parties, was a die hard Buckeye fan, a loving wife and mother.  She loved the beach and being in the sun, cooking, reading, playing Mahjong and napping. 

Sande was predeceased by her father,  Timothy McCarthy, her mother, Alice McCarthy,  her brother Thomas McCarthy, and her husband Ralph Grubs, Jr.  She is survived by her children Lisa Ashcraft (T.J.), Barry Grubs (John Pancake), and Lezlie Weimer and brother Michael McCarthy.

There will be a funeral mass at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 23 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Fremont, OH with a reception to follow at Live Edge (115 S. Front St.)  Donations can be made to The Humane Society of Sandusky or of Ottawa County, or to the charity of choice.
